The Gateway city
Got into Ketchikan at 8:00am this morning. I used to live here, back in 1986… the Stone Age, really. We’ve only been here a few minutes, but I can already tell it’s changed quite a bit, But then, so have I.
We’ll be here most of the day today, and it’s a bluebird day in Southeast Alaska. The ferry has been a pleasure of the first order… the crew has been incredible. We’ve had a tour of the engine room, had the opportunity to film the departure and arrival process from the bridge and we’ve got an interview scheduled with the Captain at 6:00pm this evening, about an hour or so after we leave port.
So we’re about to go on a jaunt through town now, a walk down memory lane for me in some ways. I figure we’ll go see Creek Street, maybe see the sights. It won’t last forever, but it’s tourist time right now.
